Benninghoven relies on holistic and energy-efficient exhaust air, room air and energy technology

Benninghoven focuses on holistic and energy-efficient exhaust air, room air and energy technology

Benninghoven is a company of the Wirtgen Group and is specialised in the manufacture of asphalt mixing plants. The product portfolio includes mobile, transportable and stationary plants. The company develops and manufactures all core components itself, from steel construction to complex control systems and offers both - standard solutions and customised plants.

Benninghoven built a new main plant some time ago in order to meet the growing demand and increase its competitiveness. The previous sites in Mülheim an der Mosel and Wittlich were merged in order to optimise production processes and facilitate further growth. Particular emphasis was placed on workplace quality, including ergonomic workstations, modern and energy-efficient exhaust air, indoor air and energy technology and natural lighting.

Clean and fresh air in all work areas and halls with a holistic approach

The holistic system supplies the production halls with clean, fresh air according to the Kappa A.I.R.TM principle. The fresh air diffuses into the floor area without draughts and without mixing with the hall air. This ensures that employees are continuously supplied with clean air. The emissions and the waste heat released are displaced from the working and recreation areas to the hall ceiling. There, the emissions and waste heat are completely captured and dissipated.

Highly efficient separation of fine dust and smoke

Emissions are filtered in the Kappa Mykron® fine dust and energy-saving filters, a highly developed filter system for the separation of industrial fine dust and smoke. Thanks to the patented Kappa Sequence Dedusting® cleaning technology, even the finest particles in the nanometre range can be filtered efficiently. This results in up to 30 % better separation of particles below 0.4 µm compared to conventional filter systems. The system also reduces energy consumption by up to 35 %.

Highly effective recovery of waste heat

Due to the highly purified exhaust air, the waste heat can be recovered with a high degree of efficiency. For this purpose, low-temperature heat exchangers are used in the Kappa MTATM air treatment centres. The recovered waste heat is used to heat the fresh air and the halls efficiently and economically.

Combination with direct capture

Direct recording systems were installed at the workstations, where stainless steel is processed but also at workstations with manganese contamination. They capture the emissions directly at the source, thus ensuring optimum protection for employees.

Intelligent automation

The system is controlled and automated in the Kappa Zeromatic®. It ensures complete visualisation of all system components.

In addition, the emission load in the hall is determined using the Kappa AirdynamicTM system, so the air flow rate is automatically adjusted to the current demand.
